EVERYONE HAS A STORY
WILD THINGS RANCH HAS ONE
On top of a mountain near the Sonoma County coast lies a land with generations of history and open spaces that tell a story of resilience. For 40 years, the family ranch sat quiet, its sheep operation gone, and the land leased out. In 2018, I started Wild Things Ranch—a way to reconnect with my roots, breathe life back into this place, and create something of my own.
I grew up surrounded by the untamed open spaces of the delta and neighboring ranches that worked the rolling open spaces. That upbringing shaped my vision for how I wanted to manage the ranch—with respect for the land, care for the animals, and a commitment to providing honest, transparent food.
Today, I own and operate Wild Things Ranch with the help of my family. We raise grass-fed Icelandic lamb and pastured Kunekune pigs, rotating them across mountain pastures to improve soil health, support thriving animals, and bring life back to the land.
At Wild Things Ranch, we believe in working with nature, not against it. Our mission is simple: to raise high-quality meat while leaving the land better for the next generation. Wild Things Ranch is more than a business—it’s a way of life.
How We Ranch
At Wild Things Ranch, we focus on simple, useful, and practical practices that enhance the land, support our animals, and work with nature, not against it.
- Rotational Grazing
Our animals are moved across mountain pastures, giving the land time to rest. This prevents overgrazing, encourages native plants, and supports the health of the soil and wildlife. - Soil Health
Healthy soil is the foundation of everything we do. By managing grazing carefully, we help improve soil structure, water retention, and plant diversity—benefiting life above and below the ground. - Livestock Guardian Dogs
Our livestock are protected by guardian dogs who keep predators at bay without harming wildlife. These dogs are an essential part of keeping our animals safe while maintaining the natural balance. - Natural Practices
We focus on preventative care to minimize the use of antibiotics and dewormers. By respecting the natural instincts of our animals, we ensure their health and well-being without unnecessary intervention.
At Wild Things Ranch, we’re working to leave the land better than we found it, support thriving animals, and provide food you can trust.
Our Icelandic Lamb
At Wild Things Ranch, our Icelandic sheep graze on wild mountain pastures, thriving on a 100% grass-fed diet. This produces lamb with a mild, tender flavor that surprises even those who thought they didn’t like lamb.
We raise our sheep with care, practicing rotational grazing to improve pasture health and give the land time to recover. Livestock guardian dogs—Maisy, Skeeter, Doc, and Huckleberry—play a vital role in protecting the flock while allowing local wildlife to thrive.
Our Icelandic sheep are seasonal breeders, which means lamb is only available at specific times of the year. This seasonality, combined with the high demand for our lamb, means inventory is always limited.
When you choose lamb from Wild Things Ranch, you’re not just getting incredible flavor—you’re supporting a way of ranching that values the land, the animals, and the food we share.
Our Pastured Pork
At Wild Things Ranch, our pigs are raised on mountain pastures where they forage naturally. Their active lifestyle and diverse diet create pork that’s tender and richly flavorful.
Our pigs contribute more than just delicious pork. Their natural rooting turns the soil, helping to aerate and revitalize the land. By working with their instincts, we improve pasture health and maintain balance naturally.
We never use hormones, antibiotics, or synthetic inputs. Raising pork on a smaller scale allows us to prioritize quality and care, but it also means availability is limited.
Currently, our pork is available locally—nationwide shipping coming soon!

Frequently Asked Questions
The name comes from a desire to honor the untamed spirit of the land and the animals we care for. It’s a nod to both the rugged beauty of our mountain pastures and the wild feeling that inspired the ranch’s creation.
We’re located outside of Cazadero, California, in Sonoma County. The ranch is situated inland from the Sonoma coast on a mountain filled with rugged hills, redwoods, creeks, and rangeland pastures.
It’s a combination of factors. Healthy animals raised on natural diets are key, but the breed and genetics of our Icelandic sheep and pasture-raised pigs also play an important role. Together with rotational grazing and sustainable practices, this ensures exceptional flavor that stands out from conventional meat.
